| Reverse description | The reverse bears the standard common design for €2 eurozone circulation coins, featuring a stylised map of the European continent rendered without national borders, occupying the central field alongside the bold numeral '2' and the denomination legend 'EURO'. The designer's initials 'LL' (for Luc Luycx) appear in the lower right of the inner disc. The outer ring displays the twelve stars of the European Union. |

| Additional information |
Malta issued this coin to mark the centenary of the first powered flight from Maltese soil, a 1915 crossing made by an Italian pilot operating in support of Allied naval operations in the Mediterranean during the Gallipoli campaign. The island's strategic position made it a critical staging point for both air and sea traffic throughout the war, and early aviation there was almost entirely military in character.
Malta produces commemorative €2 pieces in relatively modest quantities compared to larger eurozone members, which tends to keep secondary market premiums stable on most issues.
