| Reverse description | The standard European Union reverse for the 2-euro denomination, designed by Luc Luycx, depicts a stylised relief map of Europe spanning both the inner disc and the outer ring on the right side of the coin. The bold numeral '2' occupies the open field of the western Atlantic Ocean to the left, while the denomination legend 'EURO' appears to its right overlaying the continental landmass. Twelve stars of the EU are arranged along the right arc of the outer ring, with six stars above and six below the map, interconnected across the inner core by six vertical relief lines. The designer's initials 'LL' appear in small characters within the design. |
