| Obverse description | The centre field features a left-facing depiction of the Russian Imperial Navy sloop-of-war Vostok, the vessel commanded by Fabian Gottlieb von Bellingshausen during the 1819–1821 Antarctic expedition. A curved legend above reads 'FABIAN GOTTLIEB VON BELLINGSHAUSEN', while the inscription 'ANTARKTIKA 200' appears in the lower portion of the centre, flanking the country name 'EESTI' and the date '2020'. The outer ring carries the twelve stars of the European Union flag in accordance with the standard euro coin design. The overall composition commemorates the 200th anniversary of the discovery of Antarctica. |
