| Reverse description | The standard European Union reverse for the 2-euro denomination, designed and engraved by Luc Luycx, depicts a stylised geographical map of Europe extending across both the inner disc and the outer ring toward the right. The denomination 2 EURO is superimposed over the map, with the bold numeral '2' occupying the open field representing the eastern Atlantic Ocean. Twelve five-pointed stars, symbolic of the European Union, are arranged in two groups of six along the upper and lower arcs of the outer ring; six vertical incised lines across the inner disc connect the two star groupings. The designer's initials LL appear in the lower right portion of the inner disc. |
