Obverse description The central field depicts a detailed view of the Gothic façade of Burgos Cathedral, rendered in fine relief. The legend 'ESPAÑA' is inscribed along the upper left, while the date '2012' and the Madrid mint mark ('M') appear to the right of the design. The engraver's initials are present in the field. The outer copper-nickel ring bears the twelve stars of the European Union flag, evenly spaced around the circumference.

Reverse description The reverse, common to all eurozone 2 Euro coins of this period and designed by Luc Luycx, features a relief map of the European continent extending beyond the coin's inner disc into the outer ring, depicted without national borders. The face value '2 EURO' is inscribed to the left of the map, with the designer's initials 'LL' appearing in the lower right of the inner field. The twelve stars of the European flag are distributed across the outer ring.
