| Obverse description | The central field depicts the Swan of Tuonela in flight over water, a motif drawn from Finnish mythology and inspired by Akseli Gallen-Kallela's artistic legacy; the water surface below the swan features undulating lines suggesting the passage of a descending spirit. The country identifier 'FI' appears at the right end of the horizon line dividing the central design. In the lower portion of the inner disc, an artist's palette bears the birth year '1865' and the commemorative year '2015', flanked by the mint mark. The legend 'AKSELI GALLEN KALLELA' is inscribed along the lower arc of the inner ring, below the horizon line. The outer ring carries the twelve stars of the European Union. |

| Reverse description | The reverse displays the standard European Union common reverse design for the 2 Euro denomination, featuring a stylised map of the European continent extending beyond the inner disc, rendered without national borders, set against a background of horizontal lines. The face value '2 EURO' is inscribed to the left of the map within the inner disc, with the designer's initials 'LL' for Luc Luycx positioned to the right. The outer ring bears the twelve stars of the European Union. |
