Sweden does not issue euros. The country retained the krona following a September 2003 referendum in which Swedish voters rejected eurozone membership — a result made rawer by the murder of finance minister Anna Lindh, a prominent "yes" campaigner, just days before the vote. No Swedish euro coinage has ever been struck for circulation.
