| Obverse description | The obverse features the common commemorative design for the 30th anniversary of the European Union flag, in which twelve stars gradually morph into stylised human figures embracing one another, symbolising unity among the peoples and cultures of Europe. The legend 'ÉIRE 1985–2015' arcs along the upper right of the inner disc, with the engraver's initials 'ΓΣ' (Georgios Stamatopoulos) positioned at the lower right of the field. The outer ring carries the twelve stars of the European Union, rendered in the standard format common to all eurozone commemorative 2 euro coins. |
