Issued to mark the thirtieth anniversary of the European flag's adoption as an official symbol of the European Communities in 1985, this commemorative was one of roughly twenty eurozone states striking the same design simultaneously — a coordinated release that flooded collector channels and kept secondary market premiums negligible. Estonia's participation carried particular weight: the country had spent most of those thirty years under Soviet occupation, joining the EU only in 2004.
