| Obverse description | The obverse features the German Federal Eagle rendered in a stylised, heraldic manner at centre, its wings spread and head turned to the right. Encircling the eagle are the twelve five-pointed stars of the European Union arranged in a ring near the outer border of the bimetallic centre.
