Reverse description The standard European Union reverse designed for the 2-euro circulation coinage depicts a geographical map of Western Europe spanning both the inner core and the outer ring on the right portion of the coin. The denomination '2 EURO' is superimposed across the design, with the large numeral '2' set in the open field representing the eastern Atlantic Ocean to the left. Twelve stars of the European Union are arranged along the right arc of the outer ring, six above and six below the continental map. Six vertical lines traverse the inner core, linking the upper and lower star groupings. The mint mark 'LL' appears within the design.

Additional information

The Amerigo Vespucci — the Italian Navy's training vessel launched in 1931 — embarked on a two-year global circumnavigation beginning in 2023, the ship's first world tour in its nine decades of service. The voyage was partly a diplomatic mission, with port calls across five continents used to promote Italian culture and trade. This coin marks that journey, issued while the ship was still at sea.
