| Additional information |
Schiedam's De 3 Koornbloemen distillery was one of the last surviving jenever producers in a city that once housed over 400 working distilleries during the 18th century — at its peak, Schiedam was the undisputed capital of Dutch gin production, exporting heavily to Britain and the colonies. This piece belongs to the Royal Dutch Mint's series of 2½ euro coins honoring Dutch industrial and cultural heritage, a program that ran through the late 1990s as legal-tender commemoratives with limited but genuine circulation intent.
