Reverse description The large numeral '2' dominates the left and central portions of the field, rendered in a bold typographic style over a background of diagonal striations suggesting the globe motif associated with Euro cent coinage design. To the right, the Slovak double-cross shield is depicted in relief, partially overlapping the globe-inspired lined pattern. A partial arc of twelve five-pointed stars appears along the right periphery. The trial legend 'TRIAL PROBA·ESSAI·PROBE' is inscribed along the upper rim, identifying this piece as a multi-language pattern or essai.

Additional information

Slovakia's euro cent coins dated 2004 exist in an unusual liminal state: the country did not adopt the euro until January 2009, meaning these pieces were struck as collector sets years before they were legal tender. They were never released into circulation and saw no use as currency at the time of minting.
