(Translation: Mexican Republic)
Reverse description A hand writing in the book of law, surmounted by a liberty cap atop the pen, serving as the central allegorical device representing constitutional liberty. The legend LIBERTAD EN LA LEY arcs along the upper periphery, while the lower portion of the field bears the denomination, mint mark, date, assayer's initials, and fineness designation arranged in the exergual area. The design is typical of mid-nineteenth century Mexican pattern coinage exploring republican allegorical motifs.
