Obverse description Armored and draped bust of King Charles III facing right, with queue-tied hair, occupying the central field. The date 1782 appears in the exergue below the effigy. The circumferential legend reads CAROL·III·D·G·HISP·ET·IND·R·, denoting the king's titles as ruler of Spain and the Indies. The portrait is rendered in the classical Neoclassical style characteristic of Spanish colonial gold coinage of the period. The coin is bordered by a fine milled or reeded edge.
