Obverse description The Chilean national coat of arms occupies the central field, featuring a divided shield bearing a five-pointed star, supported by a rampant huemul to the left and a condor to the right, both crowned, with a spray of foliage above the shield. The denomination numeral '2' appears to the left of the shield and the mint mark 'So' to the right. The date 1838 is inscribed in the lower exergue, flanked by stars. The circular legend REPUBLICA DE CHILE runs along the upper periphery.
