Obverse description Draped and armored bust of Duke Wilhelm IV of Saxe-Weimar facing right, with long flowing hair and a pointed beard, wearing elaborately decorated armor with lace collar and a mantle clasp visible at the shoulder. The effigy occupies the majority of the coin field, rendered in high relief in the baroque manner characteristic of mid-17th century German ducal coinage. A circular Latin legend surrounds the portrait, identifying the ruler by name and title.
