| Obverse description | Quartered coat of arms of the Archbishopric of Salzburg displayed within a shield at center, featuring alternating quarters with the episcopal arms and territorial devices. The date appears in two numerals flanking the lower portion of the shield. A circular Latin legend surrounds the shield reading '+ IOAN IAC DG ARCHIEPS SALZ APo SE LEG', identifying Archbishop Johann Jakob Khuen von Belasi by his title and ecclesiastical dignity. The entire design is executed in the late Gothic hammered style typical of Salzburg gold coinage of the mid-sixteenth century. |
