| Obverse description | Central device depicts a flowering and fruit-bearing tree planted in an ornate cylindrical tub or barrel, the trunk surmounted by a cross motif. The tub rests upon a bed of palm fronds and branches in the lower field. The legend TOUJOURS LE. MEME. curves around the upper periphery within a beaded inner border, with the engraver's initials I.L.R. inscribed in the lower exergue. The coin is struck within a finely reeded outer border, giving the piece a polished, medal-like finish. |
