Obverse description Right-facing draped bust of Frederick William, Elector of Brandenburg, depicted with long flowing hair in the Baroque style and lace-trimmed drapery at the truncation, where the initials of the mintmaster appear. The bold high-relief portrait fills the field with considerable sculptural quality. A beaded border frames the design, with the Latin legend disposed around the periphery identifying the ruler as Margrave of Brandenburg, Arch-Chancellor and Elector of the Holy Roman Empire.
