| Obverse description | Draped bust of Frederick Augustus I facing right, with long flowing curled hair characteristic of the late Baroque style. The elector is shown in armored dress with elaborate drapery over the shoulder. The Latin legend FRIDERICVS AVGVST D G REX POL & SAX curves along the upper periphery of the coin, identifying him as King of Poland and Elector of Saxony. The portrait is finely engraved in high relief, with strong detail in the facial features and hair. |
