Obverse description Armored equestrian effigy of Frederick August I prancing to the right, the Elector depicted in full military attire with a plumed helmet, the horse shown in dynamic stride over a ground line. The mintmaster's initials EPH appear in the exergue below the horse. A circular Latin legend surrounds the central device within a beaded border, reading D·G·FRID·AUG·REX·POL·&·ELECT·SAX·IC·M·A·&·W, identifying the ruler as King of Poland and Elector of Saxony.
