| Obverse description | Facing busts of Ferdinand II and Isabella I, conjoined and facing one another in profile, both crowned with ornate Gothic crowns, occupying the central field. Between the two crowned busts, a small crowned shield is depicted at the base. The effigies are rendered in a late medieval hammered style with fine drapery detail visible on the shoulders of both monarchs. A circular Latin legend surrounds the central design, reading FERDINANDVS ELISABET DEI GRACIA REX ARA, separated by cross stops. |
