Additional information

Charles Philip, Elector Palatine, died in December 1742 at the age of 81 — the last male of the Palatinate-Neuburg line. His death ended a dynasty and immediately triggered a succession crisis resolved by the accession of Charles Theodore of Sulzbach. Gold issues from his final year are consequently scarce; production at the Mannheim mint wound down as the court shifted its administrative focus to the transition of power.

Fr#2033 is among the rarer Palatinate ducats in Friedberg's German States listings.
