Reverse description The arms of the City of Reval occupy the central field: a shield bearing three passant lions arranged in pale, surmounted by an ornate royal crown. The shield is set against a plain field within a beaded inner border. The circumscribed Latin legend MON · AVR · CIV · REVALIAE · 1671 surrounds the composition, with the date 1671 incorporated into the legend at the left; on the 1670 issue the date appears separated by the shield device.
