| Obverse description | Full-length figure of Bavaria, the allegorical patroness of the region, standing facing, helmeted and semi-draped in classical style, holding a branch in her left hand. Two barrels are depicted at her feet, referencing Bavarian trade and prosperity. The engraver's monogram appears in the lower right field. The peripheral legend reads BAVARIA AD 1964 in evenly spaced Latin capitals around the circumference. |

| Reverse description | Central design composed of a six-armed cross with stylised fleur-de-lis or lily blossoms adorning each of the angles between the arms, rendered in high relief against a polished field. At the centre of the cross, within a cartouche, appears the denomination inscription IIS DUCAT. The fineness mark 980 is placed at the base of the lower arm. The surrounding peripheral legend in two arcs reads PRO PROSPERITATE MUNDI above and AUREUS MAGNUS below, separated by small floral stops. |
