| Reverse description | A three-line Latin inscription reading IUSTITIA / ET / CONCORDIA, with the date 1776 below, all enclosed within an elaborate baroque cartouche formed by symmetrically scrolling acanthus foliage terminating in a pair of crossed cornucopias at the base. The ornate cartouche top is surmounted by a foliate finial, and the entire composition is contained within a toothed milled border. The field within the cartouche is plain, allowing the bold serif lettering to stand in sharp relief, exemplifying the high-quality die engraving typical of Zürich municipal gold issues of the period. |
