| Reverse description | Laureate and armoured bust of Holy Roman Emperor Francis I (Franz I Stephan) facing right, rendered in high relief in the baroque manner. The emperor wears an elaborately ornamented cuirass decorated with acanthus scrollwork, dot-punched borders, and a richly chased gorget. His long curled wig falls over his shoulders in the fashion of the period. The circumferential Latin legend reads FRANCISCUS·I·D·G·ROM·IMP·SEMP·AVG·, abbreviating his imperial titles, and the engraver's initials I.L.Œ. appear at the base of the truncation. |
