This is a pattern piece struck in 1967, the year the Greek military junta seized power in April. The timing is not coincidental — the new regime moved quickly to reshape official imagery, and a series of gold patterns were produced to test proposed designs under the colonels' government before any circulating coinage was committed. KM#Pn84 is among several denominations from this exploratory run, none of which advanced to general circulation in gold.
Pattern survivorship from this period is poorly documented, and confirmed population figures remain elusive in major census databases.
