Obverse description Mature draped bust of Vincenzo I Gonzaga facing right, with curly hair and a short beard, wearing an elaborate ruffled collar and richly ornamented mantle rendered in fine relief. The effigy is presented in a bold, high-relief Renaissance style characteristic of late sixteenth-century Italian hammer-struck coinage. A beaded inner border frames the portrait, with the Latin legend distributed around the periphery reading VINCENTIVS D G DVX MANT III.
