Reverse description Two semi-oval heraldic shields displayed side by side in the field: the dexter shield bears the arms of the Papal States (keys and tiara) surmounted by a cardinal's hat with tassels, while the sinister shield displays a quartered coat of arms topped by a crowned helm with mantling. The two shields are joined at the base by elaborate baroque scrollwork with pendant tassels. The mint-master's initials G·P· appear in the lower exergue, and the civic legend BONON·DOCET arcs across the upper portion of the coin.
