Reverse description A recumbent dog, rendered in traditional Chinese artistic style, is depicted in the centre of the fan-shaped field, set against a circular medallion and surrounded by elaborately engraved cloud and scroll motifs that fill the entire surface. The Heavenly Stems and Earthly Branches cyclical characters 甲戌, denoting the Chinese Year of the Dog, appear to the upper right of the central device. The Gregorian year 1994 — corresponding to the Chinese lunar year of the Dog — is inscribed along the upper arc, while the face value $2 is prominently rendered in the lower field. The overall decorative programme reflects classical Chinese iconographic conventions appropriate to a lunar new year commemorative issue.
