Obverse description Left-facing laureate and draped bust of Queen Victoria, engraved by Leonard Charles Wyon in the young head portrait style. The hair is elaborately dressed with a laurel wreath and flows in soft waves behind the neck. The circular legend VICTORIA D: G: REG: NEWFOUNDLAND is disposed around the periphery, with the inscription reading from the lower left upward and continuing around the upper field. The rim is defined by a uniform border of fine beading.
