| Obverse description | Black intaglio print on white cotton paper with blue serial numbers and Treasury seal underprint. A central oval vignette presents a portrait of George Washington, flanked on either side by allegorical figures in classical robes rendered in fine line engraving; the legend TWO SILVER DOLLARS arches above the central group on a scroll. The denomination numeral 2 appears in large guilloche medallions at each corner, with UNITED STATES OF AMERICA in a bold decorative cartouche across the upper centre and SILVER CERTIFICATE lettered along the top and bottom borders. |
