Fiji has issued legal tender novelty coins under licensing agreements with Marvel Entertainment since the mid-2010s, using its monetary authority as a vehicle for the collectibles market rather than circulation currency. These pieces are struck by the Coin Invest Trust (CIT) facility in Liechtenstein and distributed through wholesale numismatic channels, never entering Fijian commerce.
KM#979 is one of several Marvel character issues in the series. CIT is known for its smartminting® high-relief technology applied to this run.
