| Reverse description | A solitary polar bear (Ursus maritimus) is depicted in profile facing right, standing on an ice floe rendered in textured relief within the brass-plated aluminium bronze centre. The design, engraved by Brent Townsend whose initials 'BT' appear at lower right of the centre, captures the animal in a naturalistic walking pose with fine detailing of fur and ice surface. The legend 'CANADA' arcs along the upper portion of the outer nickel-plated steel ring, while the denomination '2 DOLLARS' is inscribed along the lower arc of the ring. |
