Obverse description The obverse features the effigy of Queen Elizabeth II in right-facing portrait, uncrowned, wearing a necklace and earrings, as engraved by Susan Taylor. The portrait depicts the Queen aged 77, representing the fourth and final effigy to appear on Canadian coinage. A commemorative privy mark consisting of four pearls appears in the field, symbolising the four successive royal effigies that have graced Canadian coins throughout her reign. The encircling legend reads ELIZABETH II D·G·REGINA, with the dual dates 1952·2022 flanking the portrait to honour the full span of her reign, and the date 2023 also present. The initials SB appear below the portrait.
