Additional information

Australia has issued coloured and novelty $2 pieces with some regularity since the mid-2000s, but the plain — uncoloured — poppy variant is the less flashy of the Remembrance Day pair released this year, distinguished only by the absence of red infill. The Royal Australian Mint has leaned heavily into circulating commemoratives as a revenue and public engagement strategy, and Remembrance Day has become one of the more reliably recurring themes in that program.

The "6th Portrait" designation places this among the final coins to bear the Ian Rank-Broadley effigy before the transition necessitated by the accession of Charles III.
