Obverse description Fourth effigy of Queen Elizabeth II by Ian Rank-Broadley, depicting a right-facing crowned and draped bust of the Queen occupying the central field. The legend QUEEN ELIZABETH II arcs along the upper periphery, while 2 DOLLARS appears along the lower left and TUVALU 2017 along the lower right. The engraver's initials IRB are incused below the truncation of the bust. The design is rendered in frosted relief against a mirror-polished field in characteristic proof finish.

Additional information

Tuvalu holds no meaningful connection to the Chinese lunar calendar, but since the 1990s the island nation has functioned as a licensing vehicle for the Perth Mint, which produces collectible issues under Tuvaluan authority for direct sale to the international bullion and numismatic market. This coin never circulated in Tuvalu — the country's functional currency is the Australian dollar — and was almost certainly never intended to.

The Bank of Taiwan attribution reflects its role as a distribution partner targeting collectors in Taiwan and greater China, where lunar series silver rounds command consistent retail premiums.
