Obverse description Right-facing crowned and draped effigy of Queen Elizabeth II after the fourth portrait by Ian Rank-Broadley, occupying the central field. The legend ELIZABETH II arcs along the left rim, NIUE appears at the top, and TWO DOLLARS arcs along the right rim. The engraver's initials IRB appear incuse below the portrait truncation, and the date 2018 is positioned in the lower field beneath the bust.

The Chinese character 狗 (dog) appears prominently in the upper left, rendered in a bold brushstroke style.
