Pitcairn Islands issues almost no circulating coinage — the population has hovered below 100 residents for decades, making any coin struck in their name essentially a collector piece from inception. This 2013 silver issue was produced under a licensing arrangement typical of Pacific micronation numismatic programs, where the issuing authority lends its name to a mint's product rather than commissioning coinage out of genuine monetary need.
The Cenotaph theme connects to Remembrance Day observances maintained even in Pitcairn's tiny community, itself descended from the Bounty mutineers and Tahitian settlers of 1790.
