| Reverse description | The reverse depicts a detailed architectural vignette of the Vorontsov Palace colonnade in Odessa, rendered with a classical Greek-temple facade of multiple columns rising above a broad stairway, all set in mirror proof finish. Two rampant lion statues stand sentinel on plinths flanking the stairway, echoing the famous sculptural guardians of the palace. Ornate baroque foliate scrollwork cartouches occupy each of the two lower lateral corners, and at the very bottom centre an oval cartouche bears an anchor emblem. The Cyrillic inscription 'Одесса' (Odessa) appears prominently across the cobblestoned foreground in raised lettering. |
