Additional information

Niue has operated as a licensing vehicle for collectible coin programs since the early 2000s, issuing legal tender under New Zealand monetary authority while contracting design rights from entertainment properties worldwide. This piece derives from the 2015 wave of Gerry Anderson IP licensing, timed to coincide with the 50th anniversary of the original Thunderbirds television series, which first broadcast on ITV in September 1965.

Anderson died in December 2012, three years before the anniversary issues appeared.
