Cook Islands has issued commemorative silver in volume since the 1970s, much of it under licensing arrangements that keep design and distribution decisions largely offshore. This piece is the third in a three-part series reproducing Hieronymus Bosch's triptych of the same name — a 15th-century Netherlandish panel painting now held at the Prado in Madrid, which Bosch completed sometime between 1490 and 1510 for an unknown patron, possibly Henry III of Nassau.
The rectangular flan — 40 by 28 mm — was chosen to accommodate the vertical panel proportions of the source artwork.
