| Obverse description | Right-facing diademed and draped effigy of Queen Elizabeth II after the portrait by Ian Rank-Broadley occupies the center of the annular sector-shaped field. The legend ELIZABETH II curves along the left edge, with NIUE ISLAND along the right edge, and the date 2014 inscribed at the upper arc. The denomination TWO DOLLARS appears in the lower portion of the field, flanked by the mint mark 'mw' to the lower left and the fineness mark Ag 925 to the lower right. The coin's unusual fan-shaped planchet gives the obverse a distinctive architectural framing to the portrait. |
