Reverse description The reverse features a colourised Sisserou Parrot (Amazona imperialis), Dominica's national bird, perched to the right amid tropical foliage and flowers, rendered in vivid applied colour with a purple head, green body, and red and yellow wing accents. Behind the parrot, a relief depiction of a commercial airliner in flight is set against a stylised map outline of Dominica, with a nautical or geodesic grid pattern in the background field. The country name DOMINICA appears prominently in cursive lettering across the upper field, with the date 2019 inscribed centrally below the map motif.

Additional information

The Sisserou parrot — endemic to Dominica and found nowhere else on earth — has been a protected species since 1977, the same year the island gained independence from Britain. The Eastern Caribbean Central Bank, which serves eight member territories simultaneously, issues these collector pieces to give individual nations a degree of distinct identity within a shared monetary system that otherwise produces uniform circulation coinage across all members.

Colourised silver issues of this type are struck by the Perth Mint under contract. The colour application is fired rather than printed, giving it better long-term adhesion than most similar series from competing producers.
