Obverse description The obverse displays the Bahamian coat of arms in high relief at centre, featuring a quartered shield bearing a colonial vessel above waves in the lower half and a rising sun in the upper half, supported by a marlin on the dexter side and a flamingo on the sinister side. Above the shield rises an elaborate crest composed of a conch shell helmet surmounted by a hand grasping a flaming torch, flanked by tropical foliage. A ribbon scroll beneath the shield bears the national motto FORWARD UPWARD ONWARD TOGETHER. The circular legend COMMONWEALTH OF THE BAHAMAS runs along the upper periphery in raised Latin letters, with the date numerals appearing in the lower field, all within a beaded inner border.

Reverse description The reverse presents a finely detailed naturalistic scene featuring two West Indian flamingos (Phoenicopterus ruber) standing face to face at centre, their sinuous necks forming an elegant curve. A radiant rising sun emerges from the horizon line at lower centre, its rays extending across the mirrored field, flanked by tropical aquatic vegetation and flowering plants rendered in fine relief. The denomination legend TWO DOLLARS arcs along the upper periphery in bold raised Latin letters within a beaded inner border, while the lower field remains open to showcase the scenic composition.
