Issued under Niue's long-running licensing arrangement that allows the territory to produce collectible legal tender featuring third-party intellectual property, this piece is part of a series commemorating the 50th anniversary of Gerry Anderson's Thunderbirds, the British puppet-action television series that first aired in 1965. Anderson developed the show's "Supermarionation" technique over several earlier productions before Thunderbirds became the format's commercial peak. Scott Tracy, eldest of the Tracy brothers, piloted Thunderbird 1.
