Additional information

Queen Elizabeth II visited the Solomon Islands only once, in 1974, as part of a South Pacific tour ahead of the country's independence — which would follow in 1978. This 2012 issue marks the Diamond Jubilee, tying the royal visit commemorative theme to sixty years of her reign rather than to any new visit. She never returned to the islands.
