Reverse description A full-color photographic reproduction of the Ramesseum, the mortuary temple of Pharaoh Ramesses II located at Luxor, Egypt, occupying the central field of the coin. The image depicts the massive sandstone hypostyle columns and Osiride statues of Ramesses II, with fallen colossal fragments visible in the foreground. The central design is framed by a decorative border of Egyptian lotus and papyrus motifs rendered in gold gilding. At the lower center, a gold-gilded winged scarab cartouche serves as an ornamental device. The legend RAMESSEUM arcs across the upper border and ANCIENT EGYPT is divided across the lower field, all lettering applied in gold.
